Merewether Baths were refurbished by Michilis in 2015.
Michilis were contracted by Newcastle City Council to demolish and reconstruct a major portion of the original structure built in 1937. Extreme king tides, east coast low pressure systems and the curious public were no deterrent in stopping Michilis on delivery of such an iconic & now heritage listed structure. We delivered this Project 2 month ahead of schedule.
The structure consists of 1,400m3 of marine grade high strength concrete, 316 grade stainless steel & carbon fibre reinforcing. We also replaced the water pumping system which can fill both the main pool and the kids pool in 5 hours.
